If you've been keeping up with the accounting trade publications (and I'm sure you have), you'd see that it's everywhere. But what does it mean? The idea of "paperless" in the abstract is kind of overwhelming. Sure, there's the obvious, literal translation: a tax workflow without paper. But how do you go from a high-level concept to actual day-to-day implementation? And, most importantly, how hard is it?

It's not as hard as you think.

In a recent survey we conducted, we learned that 83% of firms that had implemented a paperless tax workflow found the transition to be as easy as—or easier than—expected!

So how do you get started?

We have faced the following problem:- 
1)We have two types of client one is asking for pages to be sorted in such a way that all the organizer pages should be first and then all the source documents (comapanion works in a same way) 
2) but for another client he wants, one organizer then its source document, again another organizer and then its source document like that (For Ex. Organizer of wages then Form W-2 like that). 
In second case how can we use companion? 
Can companion sort handwritten pages and non standard documents?

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW SCANNING THE DOCUMENTS IS HANDLED. AT WHAT POINT DO YOU SCAN YOUR DOCUMENTS. CAN THIS BE DONE EFFICENTLY WITH ONE SCANNER?

Thank you for your questions Rose.  
 
We advocate doing the scanning prior to review and preparation. Scanning with GruntWorx is easy and requires no sorting, separator pages or tax knowledge. Many of our clients give the responsibility of scanning to their support/administrative staff. GruntWorx customers have found that using the organized, bookmarked PDF to prepare and review returns saves them anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes per return (and this takes scanning time into account). With the help of support staff and software GruntWorx eliminates the time-consuming manual task of identifying and sorting client documents typically done by professional staff.

The benefits of going paperless are considerable, not the least of which is data integrity. Paper is a lousy storage medium.
